As I’ve been playing osu! these past ~7 months, I’ve been exposed to significantly more anime art than previously. Because of this, I’ve noticed two main art styles. After a bit of research, it turns out they’re the ‘2000s’ (or ‘Moe’) and ‘Modern’ styles.

Examples of Modern anime art:

Examples of 2000s anime art:

Cheerleader - Porter Robinson: This track is amazing. I don’t know if it’s hyperpop, or some other genre, but whatever it is I like it and want more.
Shiawase (VIP) - Dion Timmer: There’s not a lot of instrumental songs that I love, but this one is amazing. Very fun.
clarity.wav >:3 - celsuis2004: Speaking of fun, this one’s a banger. Apparently it’s “dariacore”, whatever that means.
Snake Eyes - Feint: Nice DnB track, sounds like a mix of dnb and rock.
Why We Lose - Cartoon: Another DnB track, not much to say other than it being a banger.
Echo - Crusher-P: The first Vocaloid song I liked, great track.
hideaway - Marino: Short (2m) and sweet song that’s both fun and sadly very real.
Feel So Close (SKIYE DnB Remix) - Calvin Harris: Unofficial remix. The original is alright, but way too slow. This one spices it up with DnB and higher tempo, and it’s so much better. Great osu! map too.
From Under Cover - Foreground Eclipse: One of the first tracks I ever favorited on osu!, it’s a great metal song in a game mostly dominated by pop and edm.

osu!

I love this game so much. I started playing in October on a Roblox clone, then got the actual game (which is free, not sure why I didn’t do it earlier) in November, then finally got an account in December. By that point, I was decent at the game, so I got to rank 1.2 million in the first weekend. I think it took a couple weeks before I got to top million, and then I’d go up 100k ranks every couples weeks or so. I finally started plateauing in March, after a bunch of farming. I was at rank 600k or so by that point. Recently though, in like, April, I started getting better again. Setting new high scores, finding it easier to do higher difficulty songs, etc.
