Yes, I know I haven’t posted in 6 days, I’ve been pretty busy.
As I’ve been playing osu! these past ~7 months, I’ve been exposed to significantly more anime art than previously. Because of this, I’ve noticed two main art styles. After a bit of research, it turns out they’re the ‘2000s’ (or ‘Moe’) and ‘Modern’ styles.

I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly is different between these styles, and so far I’ve only founds these two things (these are relative to the modern style):
- Eyes were more flat-edged, with darker eye-lashes. Eyes also seemed to be generally darker.
- Hair had more distinct strands, including shading.
This is all coming from someone who isn’t an anime nerd (yet, it’s inevitable as an osu! player), so take this information with a grain of salt. Just something I noticed and figured I’d share it. Also, this is specifically about anime-style art done by people on stuff like DeviantArt and Pixiv, not actual anime shows.
